The Rotary Club of Bonita Springs in partnership with the Lee County Health Department is excited to enter the New Year preparing for the 15,000th immunization to be delivered through the Shots for Tots Program in Bonita Springs. Child immunizations totaled 14,637 in 2010 for the 16 years they’ve been offered at the First Presbyterian Church clinic through the Lee County Health Department. “It’s an exciting milestone for the clinic,” said Dr. Judith Hartner, MD, Director of the Lee County Health Department. “The Rotary and First Presbyterian Church are to be commended for helping to maintain the good health of thousands of children through this program.” The clinic has served 6,806 children since opening in 1995. Although totals were nearly cut in half in 2010, it is believed the number of children needing the immunizations in the Bonita Springs area may have diminished due to the recession. Immunizations are provided for all children through 18 years of age on a walk-in basis in the chapel of the church at 9751 Bonita Beach Road the first Tuesday of each month between 5 and 7 p.m.
