Despite the fact the Bonita Springs Clinic was able to operate only 10 evenings in 2009, it administered 1103 shots to 490 children this year, bringing the 15-year totals to more than 14,000 immunizations for 6549 children.

The swine flu situation, which required all Lee County Health Department personnel to give the H1N1 vaccine during November and December, necessitated cancellation of the Shots for Tots clinics in the last two months of the year. The clinics on the first Tuesday evening of each month are scheduled resume at the church on February 2, 2010.

This Bonita Shot for Tots program, which is a cooperative effort by the Rotary Club of Bonita Springs, the First Presbyterian Church and the Health Department, was begun in January 1995 at the request of the Childrens’ Services Council to make immunizations available in this area to help safeguard the health of our children, many of whom do not have access to regular healthcare.

This is an achievement of which every Rotarian and church member can be proud.
