Under the leadership of Scott Anderson, our club’s mentoring program of Rotaract students at Florida Gulf Coast University is well underway.  The program kicked off on Friday, February 11, 2011 when Rotarians and their mentees met for dinner at FGCU.  Special thanks to Dr. John Domino for his introduction to mentoring and to the caterers at FGCU.  The program is designed to match university students with Rotarians who can help provide guidance, instruction, motivation and education about their particular area of business and to broaden their horizons and understanding of Rotary.

It is through actions like this that our club is actively engaging Rotary’s 5th Avenue of Service: New Generations.  By educating and motivating these young people about the important and wonderful activities of Rotary, we are helping to build the future of Rotary and ensuring the continued service to humanity that Rotary provides.  It should be noted that a number of the students in our mentoring program are international students, some with a working knowledge of Rotary already.  We are blessed to have such an active and growing Rotaract club at FGCU thanks to the leadership of Rotarian Tom Burgess’ efforts to build the club.  As the mentoring program continues, lifelong friendships will result and help spread goodwill, peace and understanding as many of our students will be serving abroad in other countries.  Thank you to all Rotarians who have agreed to be a Mentor.
